The Ram gas V6 is the base engine, much more comparible to the F150's base 3.7 engine. Not close to the Ecoboost because of the 3.5 Ecoboost's turbochargers and direct fuel injection. give it the power and torque of an engine twice it's size. I believe the Ford 3.7 is rated 1 mpg better than the 3.5 Ecoboost, but much less HP and torque. For pulling, trhe new Ram V6 turbo diesel would be nearer to Ecoboost performance and hopefully a bit better at economy. It needs to make more mpg to compensate for the higher cost fuel. Here today, gas $3.20, diesel $3.95
