I smucked a dear on black ice with my aliarc, took it pretty well. Make sure you get a model with a rake on the bottom, mine doesn't, like mentioned the metal on the bottom is cosmetic only. Can take out a deer, but a rabbit will destroy my tranny cooler and leave you sitting. There are other that are no doubt stronger than the aliarc, but it looks good on most pickups
