If you are not having runoff into waters of the state. (crick or stream) Then I don't think the DNR with bother you. If everything is going good and no problems I really doubt that you will ever get enough manure to cover the increased cost. Most likely performance would decrease if you had total concrete, and more leg problems, more bedding costs, and more machinery costs of scraping and hauling manure I believe what you are seeing is one of the biggest advantages of your size. (your cattle yards are staying in shape without much effort) enjoy it, we have to haul out manure out regularly, and also haul dirt in every 5-10 year. I do believe our agronamist figures beef manure valuead at about 18/ton this past fall. good luck with your desicions
