Subject: RE: grinding round bales - netwrap

Driftless SW Wisconsin
Nice to see someone suggest removing netwrap. I fed some netwrapped near 2000lb round bales in the snow and cold in WI the other day. speared them and lifted up a ft or two, slit with razor knife kept in tractor tool box and pulled off. Took maybe 3-5 minutes per bale. Bales held tpgether fine without netwrap to feeder. Earlier in fall set out some bales in a corral. In the wind one wrap blew and later caught front drive shaft on the ranger. Wrapped tight around shaft, cutting boot and causing shaft to pull out on a turn breaking CV joint. That pc of netwrap was tough enough it cost me aboiut $400 in repairs! I can not see intentionally feeding that stuff through cattle. Even if it is shredded. jmho Jim at Dawn
