Always seeded mixed stands here because of the same reason, land is variable. Alfalfa will drown out in the low spots, so instead of seeding a pure alfalfa stand & cutting nothing or weeds in the low spots when it is dry, there is some brome grass & timothy to cut there. But always fertilized for the alfalfa with 11-52-0 & whatever grass there is, there is.
