God's Country (N.C. Ia) | Upon further investigation this morning, it appears that there are two rows on the west side of building site that look smoked. Leaves are brown, some have fallen. Grass below is green. You can see the line where the spray singed the edge of the grass next to field. Two rows of lilacs on north side of building site: outside row is green, inside row is dead for the most part. Going to have agronomist stop after lunch to give third party assessment. Things not really adding up, but the lilacs on the other two sides of building site next to road are green and look very healthy. Personally, spray drift looks like the most reasonable conclusion, but doesn't really explain the green grass or the inside row dying before the outside row. Funny thing is, on way to town, I noticed another lilac grove on a different building site with a few of the same dead looking bushes in spots. Maybe a blight? Grasshoppers? Thanks for the replies! | |
