Subject: Re: Storing wheat in bin questions??

Rivers, MB
We've had years where the driest wheat we harvested 17-18%. Weather was just too wet and unpredictable to not take it off at that moisture. Those that didn't harvest at that moisture took their bleached, sprouted, feed quality wheat off 3-4 weeks later.

18% wheat flows slower than dry wheat. Need to make sure you're not short on hp on your auger tractor. Need good fans on the bins and you don't turn the fans off for any reason till the wheat is dry.

I have harvested wheat for a neighbor one time that was between 25-30%. Had been dry and then got into a wet spell. He wanted it off so we harvested. That was an interesting experience.
