On irrigated ground the crop will draw moisture from the bottom up. The top can be wet and 1-2 feet down powder dry. Soil profile needs to be probed on a weekly basis.


Thats a good idea but on most of my ground it goes from light sand to clay back to sand then clay again. It would be hard to get a good representation of the whole field. I can water in zones on some pivots but even then the ground changes from the center out to the gun. I did order the field net kit for my new zimmatic. It will be nice having a remote monitor and not drive 30 miles to check twice a day.
