Branding is well worth the little time  and effort it takes IMHO.   I'm wondering what do ranchers in areas that don't brand call it when you work your cattle, castrate calves, flytag, shots, etc...?     Here in MT you can get hung or life in prison for cattle rustlin and the only way to prove it is with a brand, or permanent form of ID.   Do you non branders put anything on your horses? just wondering?

     I had a custom cutter this summer tell me that a couple guys he cuts for put confetti in their wheat when it was being binned.  Because they have had some stolen before and then they could prove it was their wheat,  with prices where their at it might not be a bad idea this summer.  We have several bins scattered around with augers pointed out at times, wouldn't be hard to snitch a load.   Reason I say this, it is similar to branding your wheat I guess, now what do you non brander guys think of this?
