Subject: RE: Compared to 1947 blast

Texas had the worst such blast back in 1947.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Disaster

Back then Killed over 500, couple ships carrying ammonium nitrate caught fire and blew.

Had to look that up, commentator was just talking about that 1947 blast, said the ships were carrying NH3...... No, no, I guess on TV all fertilizer is the same thing. They can't keep it straight!

Dad and I were getting the swather ready back in, hum, early 80s, maybe earlier, and the machine shed rattled like a tree fell on it. We looked around, nothing.

Then we hear a building blew up in a town 6 miles away. The night before the fella hit a gas line with a forklift, and when he backed up to the warehouse and hit the button to open the door, the building blew. It wrecked many houses in that little town.

I can only imagine how much worse this was.
