Subject: Re: US roaming data costs

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.
As an Aussy who ahs travelled to the USA, I thought I'd get a US sim card for my Samsung tablet. I'd already been advised to buy a 'throw away' mobile phone - not to 'roam' on my Aussy phone.
Went to an electronics store - they sent me to Genizon dealer, who said my tablet was 3G and I needed a plug in 4G device for $160 !! I thought I don't need that for a four week visit.
Tried another phone co, Yes they could provide me with a sim for my tablet, what is my USA social security number !!!! No security number = no sim ! What Australian has a US social security number???
Anyway the 'throw away' mobile suited us fine. $10 for the phone, $20 access for 120 minutes talk, able to be topped up as we used it . Could even ring landlines home in Aussy at same rate as landline in the US.
