| My dad had 2 5.7 diesels in an 80 and 82 Olds 88's and they both went to 180k plus miles before headgaskets or pumps went bad. As Jon said, if you knew how to drive them, they lasted for a while.
That being said, they were junk and I believe that they ruined diesel engines in American made passenger cars to this day.
The 4.3 v-6 was put into the small "A" body cars like the Cutlass Ciera and Buick Century and were little better than the big brother.
