Soybeans would become a weed in this instance. #1 They would consume extra water and other measures of fertility that the corn plant would need #2 Corn plants view the green light reflecting off of the competing plant as a signal to start growing plant material above ground in order to capture the most sunlight, thus the below ground suffers with poorer root structure......in the end more energy goes towards plant material rather than forming good roots and more grain #3 As stated before, you wil run into a weed issue which in return enhances point #2
