Iowa | I probably don't know enough to answer this correctly, but here is what my "guy" did.
Satellite internet to the house. On the outside of the house there is a round rod that I guess is an omni-directional antennae. On the shop, several hundred feet away, there is a square receiver that gets the signal from the antenna on the house. (He was careful to set this up with an open line of sight and to put everything up high enough so a combine could be parked in between and not block the signal). A large black cable comes into the main floor of the shop and hooks into a small box. The cat 5 cable then runs into the shop office and hooks to a wireless router, and the shop is "hot" with wifi. Works perfect, and someone can be using the net in the house and it still works fine in the shop. It was set up about 4 years ago for $600 including labor and works fabulously. (the entire house is also "hot" with wifi) | |
