central - east central Minnesota - | Yes, you and the others should band together. Is there another route the line can be routed? Down a road or along a ditch right away? Here in Mn, the courts have been siding with land owners making utilities follow road easements and other exsisting easement, rather then the shortest course through landowners fields. Here in Mn, you can force the utility to buy all your property. If a road isn't an option, and they have to go across private property, all the affected land owners force them to buy all their land, drives up their cost, and then going down a road or other easement is much cheaper. Band together and talk with an attorney that has experience with eminent domain cases. It is possible to force them to look at altunitives .. . . holding up a project is sometimes enough to have the project engineers look at other alturnitives.
