Texas/New Mexico Stateline
My uncle rotated milo and cotton half and half for 15 years and never had any problems. Other than lack of moisture since there was no fallow period.

Alleopathy is just the plant putting out chemicals that try and protect it's own turf. Milo seems to have a little stronger tendency for this than other crops. Or so I have heard. Seems like wheat planted right behind milo seems to struggle some. After a summer fallow period it is not a problem. I think a lack of moisture and nutrients of course exaggerate it. Replace the nutrients and moisture and I would think the benefits of residue cover and rotation will outweigh any alleopathy problems. I sure wouldn't worry about it too much if you have decent irrigation.

I have seen winter mustards in wheat totally kill the wheat around the plant due to this.
