I would not be a bit afraid of the early 8000 series. If you do a search, lots of posts on the subject.
The solid 466 engine, the PS trans. is very good, except for some hard shifts.
Much, better tractor than any of the earlier wide frame tractors.
I bought a 4,000 hr. 8200, and I plan on running this one a long time.

Now if your budget allows, the 8020 series, is a nice step up, and is the sweet spot of the 8000 series.
Very refined, with the Tier 2 diesel, the best of the motors, as it does not have emmission restraints.
It is worth the extra.
