Subject: RE: basement wall starting push in

central - east central Minnesota -

young buck - 11/18/2012 08:01 here's the situation. i live in a old farm house and part of the basement has cinder blocks as the basement wall. its this area the blocks are pushing in. Whats the best way to rebuild a wall? There is about a 2 x 2 window above this area i could use to get material in if needed. the area pushing in, is around 8 ft......could i use basement jacks as studs and stack 2 x 12 inside to build a wall..or just form it up and pour concrete...

Have an experence cement guy look at it - This is the fall to do it right . . .
Get a smaller excavator in there and dig out the outside of the wall . . . .
Rebuild the block wall - fix / replace the drainage tile around the footing and waterproof the wall.
With out taking the outside soil pressure off the wall, it will continue to move.
It's not waterproof any longer, reguardless of any inside methods to "hold" it you try.
It should take an smaller excavator experenced operator about half a day to dig it out.
Concrete block guy about have a day to rip out and replace.
Drain tile and water proofing yourself, half day, maybe.
An outside sump basket would work, for footing draintile.
