What year of Quicken? I'm assuming your new laptop is Windows 7. What was your old one?
You should be able to see the file on the flash drive on your new system. Open My Computer, and you should see your flash drive. The files themselves aren't associated with anything on the new system, so they won't have an icon, and you won't be able to double click them.
