Thank you for pointing out something so simple. I have always known that the biological activity was near the suface but I never thought about that we always put anhydrous under that zone. I know what you mean by bacteria bloom, a few years ago I had a field tested by the soil food web lab in Corvallis, Oregon. The test came back very high in bacteria and very low in fungi, protozoa, nematodes (beneficial) and arthropods. I never sprayed 28% on anything. Now that we do very little tillage and some cover crops I think things are getting more in balance, but I need to test again to prove that.
