| The cost to drill those rows, even with a tool bar improvised setup, would probably out weigh the benefits. Time you get out there, the planting date difference will be quite dramatic, and the stage of the wheat when you spray will be at least 2 stages on the feekes chart apart. Come harvest time, you'll have to either wait for those rows, or have quite a bit of soft, wet wheat in your sample. The row on each side will now have 15" of nutriet instead of 7.5". I drill twin row 4" on 15" centers and I have experienced no drop in yield, but gained at least one less app of fungicide. I used to wish I had the ability to hide my mistakes, but I only have one small field that cant be seen from major highways and arterial routes. Now, when I mess up, I just smile and start making a list of whoes going to comment first and what they will say this time. |
