SESD Sious Falls | The high pressure ridge has moved north. The 30 day shows the ridging pattern is here to stay and this means trouble for the cornbelt. In SD, this is the other shoe dropping. We have been one of the better areas of the country, but now our typical dry period is starting earlier than usual with less moisture in the bank than usual. Our crops look good from the road, but we have 0% chance of rain in the seven day forecast with 90's most days and 95 on Wednesday with wind everyday. If the forecast holds, don't look for SD to offset any bushels lost in the eastern cornbelt.
The swath of below normal rainfall for the next 30 day cuts right across the heart of the cornbelt. | |
