Here's my thought on acreage intentions. I farm in central Illinois and my last wheat crop was 38 years ago. I may plant some wheat this fall. Maybe 5 to 10% of my crop acres. If enough others plant a similar percentage, it will be a significant amount overall. This year I wonder if 50 out of every 50,000 acres were seeded to wheat in Illinois. We could see 10 times that amount planted this fall.

The possibility of more soybean acres is a best bet for 2008. At this time it's possible soybeans may recover 65 to 70% of the acres they lost in 2007.

One thing about corn acreage. If you doubled your corn acreage planted in 2007, it's very unlikely you can double it again in 2008. Corn acreage will decline.
