The biggest problem with the bio fuels boom is that lack of infrastructure. I don't know how it is out west but here in Indiana you have to drive 30+ miles between e-85 pumps. the cost versus mileage is keeping most of the people buying gas. Sure some people buy a tank for the novelty of it, but quickly return to gas.
The number of vehicles on the road that can burn E-85 is few and not rising very quickly. I don't know where all the ethanol that is being made and is going to be made in the next few years is going to be used at.
Until the demand outpaces production, ethanol production is predicated on a house of cards propped up by government subsidies and hype. I am pessimistic and am waiting for the other shoe to fall.
