Subject: Driving with horsetrailer in US surrounding Ontario

Woodham, Ontario
We have been going to some horseshows in the US for the last year and we're just wondering what is required. So far, we never ran into DOT, but that is not an excuse.

We have an Ontario farmplated Chev 2500HD pulling a 24' gooseneck stock trailer and farmplated F-350 dually pulling a 42'(including gooseneck) cargo trailer for carriages and tack. This strictly hobby, not for hire.

We go to shows in the states surrounding Ontario and as far as Kentuky. Here in Ontario we can drive on a restricted class A license with those trailers. Basically means we can pull heavier trailers without airbrakes. NOT a full cemmerical truck license.

Is the restricted Class A license going to be a problem? Are the farmplates going to be a problem? Does it help that it is not commercial?
