Shoup has gang bearings. Without looking I don't think they're that expensive. Putting them in is far worse than paying for them. We've got a 1000 Kewanee which is pretty much the same disk only a bit older. Decent disk, not heavy enough to fall disk todays corn stalks. Never had a problem with the frame. Gang bearings aren't really a big deal either. The turnbuckles on ours are shot and occasionally break and get welded back together. The one reoccurring problem with ours is the wheel bearings. IHO, they simply are not big enough for what the disk weighs. I'd say the price is a little high but if the blades and tires are in good condition it could possibly be well worth it. $1000-$2000 will buy nearly every 1020 that shows up on an auction around here. |
