We've got 130 mature ewes and 30 ewe lambs. Most are Dorset/Polypay/Finnsheep cross and we breed a small group of the best ewes back whitefaced to produce replacements. The rest get bred Hampshire for terminal fat lambs. We do have a few sprockel faced ewes left from before when we weren't splitting the flock up. My wife does a lot of the day to day small stuff with the flock. Best flocks are run by women, and I always tell people if you can't make money in sheep, you need a better wife. |
