| Go into Settings->Mouse - should be a setting there to turn on the right click. Once you do that, it will work just like Windows. It is turned off by default. I think it is Apple's last gasp at trying to maintain a single button mousehood.
I've only ran into one Mac user who wanted to be best friends with me. About a week after switching to Mac, I went to a book store to find a book to explain some things about Tiger that I wasn't "getting". The gal there asked me if I needed help finding something. Once I told her I just bought my first Mac, we were instantly "best friends" - so I know what you're talking about. Funny thing is, she answered all my questions and I didn't need to buy a book.
