Subject: Re: Draper soybean loss help.

Shelbina, Missouri (NEMO)
In these super dry beans, most of our loss is coming from sickle shatter with our draper. I don't think there is a thing we can do to fix it. We're running our real out about half way between 6 and 7 and just barely touching the plant to make it fall backward. We run the reel a lot farther forward than we would with a normal auger head. My thumb is constantly on the up/down button on reel height. Our beans are so variable. Anywhere from 6" to 4' tall in the same pass in some cases. Some of our beans are already popped open as well...

If you figure out something better, please let us know, but I think with these 6-7% beans, we are just screwed....

Bill
