Northern CA | I had an N6 and an R50 for wheat. I did not like the N6 and replaced it with the N7. Yes, the 50 is a smaller machine. But, coming from an N6, it is so much simpler and more reliable. There are so many fewer belts, etc. I love the 6 cylinder Deutz. It doesn't drink any fuel. I think I am less than 2 gallons per acre. My R50 has around 2800 engine hours and no separator hour meter. I would buy the two R50s if you can afford it. You will have a reliable backup or a machine for a neighbor to run if you are behind. Heck, a 50 is so simple your wife or kid could run it. I just rented with a neighbor a 1992 R72 and opted on not buying it. My neighbor did, though. The R50 seems even easier to work on than the R72. Yes, it has an older cab, but the A/C is better, if that matters to you. It does to us. Only you can make your decisions and all this advice is free, so take mine for what it is worth. You can't go wrong with an R50. | |
