That is what we do. But we plant 12 or so different varieties of corn and 3 or 4 different brands. After we've applied 6 varieties and are in need of assigning that 7th variety, you have to rename one of the first varieties that you applied. What we noticed is that when you do that and go back to look at the planting data on the monitor for the corn that you already planted, it labels that corn as an unidentified variety. Let's say you planted 2 varieties in one field, and had to rename both of those varieties in the list of assigned varieties later on in a different field. When you go back to that original field it no longer shows the field as being planted with 2 varieties, it shows it as 1 unidentified variety, not 2 unidentified varieties. We think then when we unload it into SMS or Apex, it brings it in as some sort of default variety. Or the variety that we created the prescription using, which is never correct. It acts as if it loses that variety.

Now it is possible that the operator just didn't do something right, but we do have 1 field that was done right, and we are pretty sure it is using an assigned variety that he did not have to over write later in the season.
