Subject: Re: case planter with poor seed spacing

Seed Release Index is something invented by Precision Planting.

Unless they reveal how it is actually calculated and what it ACTUALLY measures, it is of no value beyond a marketing tool. I asked Precision Planting about the Seed Release Index in an email conversation last spring, and the representative would net tell me how Seed Release Index is calculated or the algorithm they use -- so, we have no idea what the scale or unit of measurement actually is.

I do have a 1250 planter that runs the 20/20. Since there were people freaked out about SRI on this board last spring, I asked the PP rep about the SRI numbers I was getting on my planter. He said that my numbers were as good as any other meter, including eSets.
