Subject: RE: Concrete Ditches

Malheur County Oregon
Ben, Ya here in our cut up chopped up run water in every which direction armpit of the world, concrete ditches work pretty well. A dirt ditch will get saturated and the banks get slick and soft so your falling down in the mud or the ditch breaks among other things.
The way they are made is a road grader makes the base pad and then they are trenched out and a boat sets in and the cement formed in. This pic is the type of trencher that is used other than haveing shapers on to form the sides of the ditch.
It's been a few years since we put in a new ditch but I think the price now is up over 8 bucks a foot now. Your question got me thinking and on our little hardscrabble operation I came up with over 6 mile of ditch on the place.
The other pic is of a dork who goes on vacation and drags his sweet wife to El-Centro California just to look at farms instead of spending more time in San Diego
