| There are two different kinds of "memory" - RAM and storage. The 3GS and iPhone 4 both come in 16 and 32 GB versions - and that is storage space. The iPhone 4 has (I think) twice the RAM that the 3GS has, and also has a faster processor in it. The combination of more RAM and a faster processor gives the 4 a considerable edge in speed. The 3GS was fine until iOS 4 was released - and people complained the the 3GS would lag. If she goes with the 3GS, she should consider sticking with iOS 3 if she can for this reason. iOS 4 brought multitasking to the iPhone and it seems it is a bit too much for the 3GS. The multitasking also reduces battery life - and yes, the 4 has an edge there too.
As far as 8 GB - this all depends on what all she is going to be putting on the phone. 8 GB of just music - it would be enough for a LOT of music. If she starts putting a lot of apps, pics, videos, etc on there, 8 GB will get ate up pretty quick. | |
