Northern Indiana		AMD will possibly cost you a little battery life, but then again Intel has the bigger advertising budget.

Unless you're going to wait till solid state drives drop in price, I'd say go for it.
Make sure the memory is upgradable too.

I have a Lenovo T61p 15.6in and its been a good computer the last couple years. Not a big fan of its screen, but they've fixed those problems since (and I have it on an advanced mini dock hooked to two 22 inchers).
