I agree with the statements above for MAC address, however in some areas ISP providers assign specific IP's to their clients. Check the properties on your desktop to see if you have a Static IP/DNS or DHCP. If you have a static IP you will need to put that in your router. Note: Most providers have a tech line to call if you are having trouble connecting... some charge for this and some do not. Can you log into your router? The router should see your computer, linksys by default is usually 192.168.1.1
