| What kind of internet service? Cable? DSL? Satellite? Are you using a wireless router or ethernet cable?
If DSL, more than likely the culprit will be the telephone wire between the telephone company's box and your modem. Unless your house is fairly new and premium wire was used for the phone lines, it probably has sub-par data performance. The same could be true if you have a cable modem. Cheap coax cable in the house would degrade performance. I wired my phonelines with Cat 5e throughout my house and used RG-6 coax for TV.
Wireless routers offer convenience of no wires to hook to the computer, but I don't think any can match the data speeds of hardwired ethernet. | |
