First I would like to admit that I have no experience what so ever with a GPS unit. So I am not sure if what I am thinking about is done all the time or never been tried. That said what I would like to do is to log the location of all the harvestable trees in my woodlot.

The process being something like standing next to tree and recording the location of the tree, type of tree, and size of the tree. When this is completed being able to look at a map in my office with all the individual harvestable trees pin pointed on a map. Hopefully, then later being able to reference with the map any individual tree desired and have the type and size of the specific tree.

If this is doable, how do I proceed? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have to offer.
