Ok, well if you have a point & shoot infrared thermometer (works great on large machinery too) The top palm/keyboard should average say 20~35C. The bottom should be similar to slightly warmer.

My notebook cpu itself peaks 55-65C but the machine surface temps are just warm.

My Thinkpad workstation laptop (highpower dissipates about 200W) gets downright untouchable hot on the bottom & the fan is obnoxiously loud while it edits 20 layer cad drawings of 300,000sf manufacturing plants...
