Subject: Protection using your router.

East central Iowa

If you want a little extra protection you could have your DNS set to use Google or OpenDNS

the settings for Google are 8.8.8.8  and 8.8.4.4

OpenDNS settings are 208 67 222 222  and 208 67 220 220

The advantage of using one of the above is described here >

DNS
DNS is an acronym for Domain Name Server. A Domain Name Server is a server located on the Internet that translates URL's (Universal Resource Links) like www.belkin.com to IP addresses. Many ISP's do not require you to enter this information into the Router. The "Automatic from ISP" checkbox should be checked if your ISP did not give you a specific DNS address. If you are using a Static IP connection type, then you may need to enter a specific DNS address and secondary DNS address for your connection to work properly. If your connection type is Dynamic or PPPoE, it is likely that you do not have to enter a DNS address. To enter the DNS address settings, uncheck the "Automatic from ISP" checkbox and enter your DNS entries in the spaces provided.
