This is a relatively common issue when connecting GPS receivers to a Windows computer. Windows detects the NMEA data stream as a serial mouse, so it ends up moving the mouse pointer all over the screen.
Resolution: Boot the computer with the GPS receiver connected so the mouse is moving all over the place. Unplug the GPS receiver so the mouse is usable. Go in to Device Manager, and under Mice, disable the Serial Ball Mouse or whatever it is called. After that, you can plug the GPS receiver back in. It will work fine even after you reboot the computer. | |
