You won't be able to convince Apple that this is their problem. It won't be cheap. You may be able to get a third party repair place to help. Take the battery out. Put it in an air conditioned room if possible and leave it there for a few days. That will get it as dry as it is likely to ever be or if your mechanic has drum of oil dry set it in there undisturbed. If it powers on after that then you've learnt your lesson. If not, it may be worth taking it somewhere to get fixed properly. You should note that even if it does power on properly, you may have caused permanent damage anyway depending on how much water you spilt on it. Water contains mineral contaminants that will eventually cause corrosion of PCB components that it has come in contact with. You have effectively reduced the life of these components. This can be cleaned easily with a hefty dose of contact cleaner if you want a simple solution, but i wouldn't recommend doing it unless you are comfortable opening things up and performing this work.
