Driftless SW Wisconsin | As far as keeping track of profit and loss, which does not work real well on the back of an FSA map, I think Quickbooks is hard to beat. You can buy it at Walmart or online. The latest version has a basic set of farm accounts that will get you going. Your accountant/tax prep person will be able to work right from that. Now is a good time to start to learn how to use it at the beginning of the 2011 tax year. Jmho. I think a later version will also allow you to keep personal/family expenses and checkbook on there but separate from business. Not sure on that one though. It does not cost 200/mo either! Good luck.
