Ron, I have updated at least 20 computers to SP3 with no issues. IHMO the "hazards or downsides" are MUCH greater for not installing it. Many of MS's fixes are specifically done to fix bugs or holes that may allow your computer to be compromised. I can understand a desire to wait a bit to let the bugs get worked out, but SP3 has been out a LONG time.
