central mo | i've got a 4 or 5 year old Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. Running Windows 7 Ultimate. 2 Gb Ram.
it has started quite regularly locking up on me. NOTHING works after it locks up. I even have to do a hard shut down by holding the power button for 8 seconds. Ctrl Alt Delete is unresponsive. Speed is fine all the way until the lockup too.
During bootup the speakers have a high pitch squeel to them. (Never done this before) Sometimes it will hang during bootup and I have to hard shutdown again.
I'm thinking its a bad motherboard??
If it werent for the speakers making the screeching noise I would say its possible its a memory problem.
what do yall think???
