At our private school I've always run free AV software on the lab computers and Symantec Corporate on staff computers. I've only had to clean viruses off the staff computers. I think it's all where you browse to. You can get infected by passing your mouse over an ad. You don't even need to click. That's why I run Firefox with Ad Block plus.
