West Union, Illinois | Cell 1 is ATT in IL. I think you are mistaken. It's been over 15 years since I was selling cell phones and a lot has changed since then. When I was involved everything was analog. Cellular One is the only privately-owned, locally-operated wireless service provider in East Central Illinois. The company initiated service in 1991 and serves residents in Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland and Vermilion counties. Currently, the company has 54 cellular sites, with seven more expected to be operational in the next two months and nine more already planned in the next two years.
In the license area to our west ATT may own the C1 franchise. Back when I was involved it was Southwestern Bell
