| It really depends on what he is studying. I just checked out an ipad over the weekend at an Apple store and found that just like the iphone it is not possible to type very efficiently. Word processing is really important for college students. If he has access to another computer for this purpose it might change things. The other point I would make is that even entry level collegiate math courses often require students to use a conversational math programming language like Maple or Mathematica. I doubt that applications like this would run well on the ipad platform. I would play it safe and go with the laptop. | |
