Macon, IL | We have two now and a 3rd one going in next year. The latest one went in 2 years ago. Paid about 80% of land value for permenant easement-which I think was 50ft wide. Paid crop damage for 5 years-100,80,60,40,20 on 120ft construction area.
Given the choice of easement and $ I would take no easement, but if it coming through you really can't fight it-so just try to get as much as you can. Two years later 90% of the ground is back as it was before they were there. THe other 10% has been a really pain-and not sure it ever will be the same. Couple wet spots where we never had water before-torn up waterways that were really nice now keep washing out.
In summary I would say the money is good-but you will end up working for it one way or the other.....
