I would look at the Buffalo WHR HP G54 if you are still on
the "G" system. There have a little more power. I have two on
over 1/3 mile hop. The one has the D-link 7db antenna and
other uses standard antenna. The biggest problem is finding
low loss feedline if you need to go more than a few feet. The
D-link came with 3' which most likely has a loss of about 1DB.
I think the buffalo standard was 5DB. When you figure it out
you are not gaining much except placement of the antenna for better
line of sight. Finding a cable with low loss and the right ends
can be a problem. If you can use a directional antenna, it would
be better to go with a higher gain to overcome the feedline loss.
